  1. TAILS Linux 1.8 is out (Dec 15, 2015)
  2.
  3. # Tails is a live system that aims to preserve your privacy and anonymity.
  4. It helps you to use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship almost
  5. anywhere you go and on any computer but leaving no trace unless you ask it to
  6. explicitly.
  7.
  8. # It is a complete operating system designed to be used from a DVD, USB stick, or SD
  9. card independently of the computer's original operating system. It is Free Software
  10. and based on Debian GNU/Linux.
  11.
  12. # Tails comes with several built-in applications pre-configured with security in
  13. mind: web browser, instant messaging client, email client, office suite, image and
  14. sound editor, etc. - https://tails.boum.org/about/index.en.html

  43.   should work again. Note that the documentation has not been

  45.   wizard yet.
  46.
  47. * Minor improvements
  48. - Upgrade I2P to 0.9.23-2~deb7u+1.
  49. - Rebase our patch against the Tor Browser AppArmor profile on top
  50.   of the one shipped in torbrowser-launcher 0.2.1-2.
  51. - Warn if the claws-mail persistence is enabled and contains a

  54.   #10739)
  55. - Remove the Claws Mail persistence feature from the Persistence
  56.   Assistant. (Closes: #10742)
  57.
  58. * Build system
  59. - Simplify ISO image naming rules by using the base rule we use
  60.   for Jenkins all the time, except when building from a tag
  61.   (i.e. building a release).  (Closes: #10349)
  62.
  63. * Test suite
  64. - Lower the waiting time for USB installation in the test suite.
  65.   So far we were waiting up to one hour, which is just the same as
  66.   our Jenkins inactivity timeout, so in practice when Tails
  67.   Installer fails and displays an error message, instead of
  68.   reporting that the job failed (which is the point of the
  69.   exercise) we abort the job due to this timeout which
  70.   communicates less clearly that there's probably a bug. (Closes:
  71.   #10718)
  72. - Remove the check for the sound icon in the systray in the
  73.   Windows Camouflage tests. (Closes: #10493)
  74. - Retry running whois when "LIMIT EXCEEDED" is in its output for
  75.   increased robustness. (Closes: #10523)
  76. - Make Seahorse tests more robust. (Closes: #9095, #10501)
  77. - Make the handling of Pidgin's account manager more robust.
  78.   (Closes: #10506)
